The Alabama State Poetry Society's Winter Meeting will be held at the beautiful Story Tree Farm Retreats in Huntsville. This idyllic location is the perfect place to learn, think, and write!

Our presenter will be Dr. Beth Gylys, Professor of English and Creative Writing at Georgia State University. Dr. Gylys has published five collections of poetry, most recently Sky Blue Enough to Drink (Grayson Books, 2016), and has won the Quentin R. Howard Award, the Gerald Cable Book Award, and the Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award in Poetry.

In this generative workshop, students will try their hands at a couple of forms: sestinas and (if we have time) villanelles. We’ll look at examples and get started on efforts with a series of collaborative writing exercises that we will share and discuss. Come ready to write and bring your good ideas!
